Jinpa Interesting poetry with a very sing-able tune. It got stuck in my head, but that's a good thing in this case. Promising stuff that's worth following.

about

This was my first angry post-break-up song. Drove to Philly and visited with Brett Kull of echolyn, who I thought might "get it", and seriously enjoyed watching him work his studio and touches of guitaristic magic on my music, in a room full of gorgeous instruments and state of the art recording equipment. My DIY moment, with a little help. Got rid of the click track, played the drums naturally,. the way I heard them in my head after years of doing it acoustically. When it was time for my guitar solo, and Brett handed me a pristine 1960 Gibson Les Paul Sunburst and casually said "try this one", I knew something was working right.

lyrics

Who ever said love don't matter
Who ever said dreams don't shatter
Who ever said love is a democracy
In which we find ourselves

Grey sun in winter
Opens into a cinnamon spring

Who ever said time don't heal
Who ever said words ain't real
Who ever said time is just a corridor
We walk until the end

Grey sun in winter
Opens into a cinnamon spring
Grey sun in winter
You always were
An unusual thing

Well you return to me like the reaper
In your elegant disdain
To haunt, humiliate me
Yet again
There were a thousand times I never saw
That love was not your point
At all

Grey sun in winter opens into
A cinnamon spring
Grey sun in winter
You always were
An unusual thing

about

Dan Sapen New York, New York

Once upon a time, I wrote and played songs, and hung out jamming in jazz clubs. Then I became a psychotherapist who wrote a book (Freud's Lost Chord) about psychology and music, and a dad, and put that previous version of me on ice, in the garage of the soul. Now it is time to make music again. One day, preferably pre-humously the whole song cycle of “The Marty Chronicles” will be complete. ... more
